GOLD WINNER: BUSANWAVE
A cultural movement to promote a cultural city
This is my first ever international competition. My copywriter partner Zach Lim was just very hyped. He asked me if I wanted to join. We teamed up, and joined just for fun. No pressure at all. We just wanted to travel to Korea! Haha! Our team name is “Libreng Pangarap“ which means Free Dream.
The brief is to create a campaign for Busan Tourism in a span of 24 hours. We came up with an idea, to create a vision and aesthetic specific to the personality of Busan, Korea.
We didn’t expect to bring home the GOLD Award. We prioritized having fun in the beach, and just go wild with our ideas.
“‘Busan Wave’ stood out as a big platform idea that recognised the Korean Wave craze, and created a new sub-genre of Busan Wave – a more laid-back, beachy version of Korean Wave that could apply to music, drama, art and more. It didn’t just give a feeling for what the Busan experience would be like – it actually helped set a vision for tourism in the city,” Pick explains.
